4 Helpful Tips for Getting Married at Emerald Lake Lodge
Emerald Lake Lodge is one of the most breathtaking places to get married in the Rockies. I’ve had the joy of designing wedding flowers for so many beautiful celebrations there and it never gets old. The views are unreal, the vibe is super cozy, and there’s just something magical about being tucked away in the mountains surrounded by all that fresh alpine air.
Whether you're already booked in or just dreaming about your lakeside vows, here are 4 helpful tips to keep in mind for your Emerald Lake Lodge wedding.
1. Plan for the Weather (Even in Summer!)
Yes, it’s summer… but you’re also at a mountain lake, which means things can turn chilly or rainy real fast. I always tell my couples to expect anything—sunshine, rain, fog, even snow. (Yep, it happens.) Bring some cute umbrellas, layer-friendly outfits for portraits, and maybe even a cozy shawl or two for your wedding party. Bonus: moody weather looks incredible in your photos.
2. Go With Flowers That Love the Cold
Because the lodge is higher in elevation, some delicate flowers (like dahlias or cosmos) can get a little dramatic in the cold. I like to use hardy blooms that hold up well—think garden roses, ranunculus, lisianthus, and all the wild greenery vibes. If you're dreaming of a bouquet that looks fresh all day long (especially for outdoor ceremonies), your florist can guide you with options that work with the elements.
3. Keep It Simple for Setup
Emerald Lake is stunning on its own so you don’t need to go overboard with decor. But if you’re planning florals for your ceremony, I recommend pieces that are easy to move. The ceremony space and reception area aren’t far apart, so repurposing florals is super doable. Arch flowers can double as sweetheart table decor, and aisle markers can dress up your cake table or bar. Make sure to tell your florist your plan for repurposing the florals so we can make sure it design them to look great in both spaces.
4. Think About Delivery Logistics
Emerald Lake Lodge is about an hour from Golden, and getting there involves a shuttle ride to the lodge. It's a bit of a process, so it really helps to work with vendors who are familiar with how things run out there. I always build in extra time for deliveries and setup to keep things running smoothly.
